about

Savvy Records proudly presents our first full-length album from Discrete! A forty-six-minute catch filled with four-to-the-floor hooks and shinny bait galore. A magicians hat of sorts, in that if you were to reach in and randomly pull something out we couldn't quite tell you what you might discover. The title track is reminiscent of the DJ-producer's one-hit-wonder "Mind and Body", which has since been picked up and played out by the likes of Pezzner, DJ Sneak, Inland Knights, Mark E and many, many others. "The Midas Touch" and it's flighty rhodes carry a nostalgic vibe that you just can't seem to find these days. Jazzy and old-school, this deep-house classic has all the elements you look forward to hearing in the genre. Discrete has also graced us with another, third '94 Version of the wildly successful "Mind and Body" original. This time however, the track has been redesigned specifically for the dance-floor. A dance-floor from the early '90's that preferably flashes and changes colour. The album also evolves in a way the tracks become progressively more tech-housey. "Wake-Up" for example uses deep-theta frequencies and hypnotizing chords to wake you up on both a metaphorical and transcendental level. What's also worth mentioning, is Kyle's eclectic choice of samples. A master of collage both in the visual as well as musical sense. "Always No" for example samples retired legendary heavy-weight boxer Mike Tyson's vocals above a sea of punchy beat-boxing and scrappy tech-house madness. An analogy between practices perhaps? That is for the listener to decide.
