about

Juno nominated multidisciplinary artist Discrete returns with his third consecutive album, ‘True’. The forty minute feature length album emerges from the deep and divine to a more heightened detroit inspired dance sound. Heaven for starters sets a holy tone evident throughout the album in an exotic jazz enriched genre. Ninety-fours beats per minute of song and prayer ascend through heavenly bells and whistles played presumably by angels. This is followed by the title track ‘True’, which very verbally examines the subjective nature of consciousness. A polytheistic cubist perspective on God is presented here by an anonymous vlogger who in the midst of a transcendental house track, questions her own validity as a prophet. This hypocrisy carries over into ‘Night Life’, where a dialogue is created between two distinctly different vocalists confessing their distaste and acceptance of living a nightlife. ‘You Know It Feels Tight’ brainwashes followers to the point of submission, in inescapable cyclical loops toying with themes of worship and idolization. ‘Technosis’ enters the odd hours of the night, quite literally referring the Detroit techno sound. The word techno here replaces hypnosis, substituting the conditioning of sleep with staying up late indulging in the genre. The album wraps up with ‘Heater’, a sticky sweaty minimal techno track designed specifically to raise your heartrate. Much like You Know It Feels Tight’, female dominance and sexual submission are emphasized for a dancefloor climax.
